Another film with similar themes in a much different context is "The Beguiled" by Sofia Coppola. Felt like a similar attempt at lifting the veil of feminine power and conniving.
Oh wow, I just saw now Copppla's film is a remake of the original 1971 film. Could be really insightful to compare and contrast both. The new one is from 2017 and has Colin Ferrell and Nicole Kidman and one of the very nubile Fanning girls in it. I'll have to check out the original.
